First Kids Christmas 2009

Catch the joy of Christ’s birth as the First Kids children sing during the December 20 worship service and the December 23 Candlelight service. All kids are invited to a Birthday Party for Jesus after singing in the December 20 worship service.

Special Christmas Services

December 20 – Christmas Brunch at 9:00 am with a special celebration service at 10:30 AM including the Choral Ensemble and Handbell Choir

December 23 - The Candlelight Christmas Service is on Wednesday at 7:00 PM and not Christmas Eve.

First Missionary has produced our own New Testament and whole Bible in the Easy-To-Read Version. Special Business Meeting – December 6 at 11:30 am

December 6 immediately following the celebration service there will be a special business meeting to affirm the slate of elders, deacons and nominating committee members and to vote on the proposal to lease the WEB building to the Fort Wayne School of Urban Ministries. If you would like a copy of the WEB proposal or a copy of FMC plans and budget for 2010, they are on the table by the Celebration bulletin board.

Pastor Appreciation – December 6

We will recognize our pastoral staff during the Celebration Service on December 6. This year we are asking that each of you (family unit) make or purchase a card of encouragement for each pastor. We would also suggest that if you are able, to include a gift card to either a restaurant, department store, DeBrands, home improvement store or anything you like. Please bring your cards to the office this week or next Sunday.

First Fruits Sunday, November 22

We need to share God’s blessings to us with others.  We are asking that on Sunday, November 22nd each family bring some of the following items when you come to worship.  These items will be divided up to share with several First Missionary Church families and to restock the Food Pantry.

Thanksgiving Eve Service – November 25

Join together on Wednesday, November 25 at 7 pm to thank God for His blessings over this past year.

“Christmas in Shipshewana”, Saturday December 5

“Christmas in Shipshewana” at the Blue Gate on Saturday, December 5, is open to all adults.  Leave FMC on the church bus at 10:00.  Lunch at noon.  At 2:00 view His Life, a Broadway-style musical depicting the life of Christ from birth to resurrection.  Return to church about 6:00.  Cost is $50.00 per person.  Sign up in Sunday school or Senior Fellowship.

Christmas Ensemble

A Christmas ensemble is being formed to sing several selections from Keith & Kristyn Getty’s new cantata, Glorious Impossible, on Sunday, December 20th  during morning worship.  To prepare for this, rehearsals will be held beginning in late November.  Please plan to attend at least two of these five rehearsal times:

Sundays, November 22, 29 and December 6;

Wednesdays, December 2 and 9.

Then, plan to attend rehearsals on BOTH Sunday, December 13 and Wednesday, December 16.

Sunday practices will run from 4:00 to 5:30 pm.  Wednesday practices will be from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
